The owners of this suite have recently moved house and needed their old furniture lightening and brightening to fit into their beautiful dark wood panel living room.
This chair was part of a 3 piece suit but we decided to cover each piece with different fabrics. I changed the shape of this chair by incorporating the separate seat cushion into the structure of the chair. And covered in Bute fabrics Braemer.
BUCKET SEAT - COMMISSION
Here I added the separate seat cushion into the structure of the chair, changing the shape of the chair and creating a smoother finish. Covered in a tartan wool.
The client had a very clear idea of how she wanted this chair to look. It was a pleasure to make her vision a reality.
STUDY POD FOR SUSSEX DOWNS COLLEGE. COMMISSION

RETRO SHELL CHAIRS. COMMISSION
These on trend shell chairs were commissioned to go in the new pinewood studio offices. They were pretty tatty. Covering them in sheepskin gave them a whole new identity. They look fantastic and are also super comfy and cosy.
This chaise was in need of a complete overhaul. It was riddled with woodworm, the webbing and springs were shot and the whole thing had collapsed. The owner was very sentimentally attached to it so I worked my magic and brought it back to life. Covered in bute tweed, java.
VICTORIAN BALLOON BACK DINING CHAIRS. COMMISSION.
These gorgeous traditional dining chairs were given a modern twist with bright canvas in bold colours. The webbing needed replacing and stuffing enhanced. Simple yet transformational.
This little chair was quite revolting. Its inards had sort of dissolved and it stank! But its springs were all sound so I completely replaced all the stuffing and covered it in bute tweed, java.
This chair had two broken arms and needed re springing. I managed to reuse a lot of its original stuffing and incorporated the seat cushion into the chair to minimise the need to fluff and give a cleaner shape. Its covered in bute fabrics ramshead which I love.
This wing backed armchair has been fully reupholstered. I incorporated the seat cushion into the structure of the chair giving a smoother shape. Covered in recycled fabric.
This was a tired old pouffe from the late 50s that I dragged into the modern day. Covered in recycled denim, complete with pockets and a band of Rajasthani embroidery. Gold sequin and florescent fish scales. For sale at £325
This stunning chair is covered in material from bute fabrics. Teal and gold herringbone. Pink tweed and charcoal grey boiled wool. It is incredibly comfy, rocks as well as swivels. For sale £665

MIDCENTURY BLANKET CHAIR. SOLD
This chair is a great shape, very current and incredibly comfy as well. It’s been completely reupholstered using traditional methods. The final fabric is a picnic blanket. Yours for £250
The owner nursed her now teenaged son in this chair so she was hugely attached to it. The wing was broken, the springs shot and fabric shredded. It was to start a new life in the den where the youths hang out so it needed to be modern. The recycled jeans and picnic blankets add a funkey twist with pockets to stash the remote.
DEEP BUTTONED NURSING CHAIR. SOLD
This chair required a simple recover. I added a layer of wadding to plump it up a bit. The soft grey velvet is complemented by the bold yellow piping and buttons.
DEEP FILLED ARMCHAIR AND FOOT STOOL. COMMISSION
This chair arrived in a sorry state. It had separate back and seat cushions which I incorporated into the padding of the chair to give it a more modern luxurious shape. Again there was little budget for fabric so I selected a variety of off cuts and some old curtains for the client to choose from. After some deliberation the pallet of fabrics was chosen and this sumptuous armchair and foot stool were born.
GRU’S CHAIR. COMMISSION
This chair had sentimental value to the client though it really needed dragging into the modern day to fit into her funky home. The pink fabric was incredibly expensive so I only bought a metre. The rest of the fabric was recycled curtains and old jeans. The back is deep buttoned but I left them slightly raised so you could see the contrasting colours more.
Using recycled fabrics is a great way of keeping costs down on a project. Here I used some of the client’s retro blankets and I sourced the main ikat blanket to upholster the seat and then used remnants of corduroy for the arms.
This is a mid-century utilities chair. It has been completely reupholstered with new springs and padding. It has been covered in floral velvet, recycled bright orange canvas and recycled denim.
